  • Working on the threshing floor, with donkeys. The traditional life of the Wakhi people, in the Wakhan corridor, amongst the Pamir mountains. This is Afghanistan, the Wakhan corridor – those mountains on the right, this is Tajikistan, and to the left behind the mountains is Pakistan. When We arrived in late August, all the villages were buzzing with agricultural activities, here men are threshing with cows, a practice that has been going on for 1000 of years. Not a drop of oil is used for producing food.

  • The bride, along with her sisters and other close female relatives are squatting under a red cloth in front of the ceremonial yurt while the men around the cloth are throwing candies on the cloth and distributing "bortsok" (fried dough), to bring good luck to the wedding. Early morning, this group of men, most of them are relatives, get together, carrying this wooden tools, like gigantic food clips. They are used to clip huge quantity of hay in it, and bring it to a shed. Without a strong sense of community, you could not survive there.
