A new Khan comes to give respect to his father, the late Haji Abdul Rashid Khan who had led his people for 30 years at the time of his death. He was the last khan, not just among the Afghan Kyrgyz, but among any group of Kyrgyz, or Turkic-speakers, anywhere. His son, holding the Afghan flag on his father's simple tomb, recently took over the title of Khan. But being young and inexperienced, he has so far failed to rally his community.
