PIotr Ivanovich, born Moynaq, 75 yrs old, thinks of days when he was the captain of his boat, now beached in the desert near Moynaq. Eyes blue as the long gone sea!

In Moynaq town, former fishing port on the Aral Sea, now 180km from shore.
Since 1960's, The Aral Sea has been drained of 75% of its water, because of the diversion of upstream rivers that are used for cotton plantation. It use to be the 4th largest lake in the world. The resulting desertification is accelerating dramatically global warming. High salinity means no more fish. Anthrax and rabbies test were also done in a former island in the sea that is now linked to the shore....
